At a glance
The L40s Ultra CE brings useful features, including ultrasonic carpet detection, the TriCut brush and a full-service dock, but 13,000 Pa of suction limits it to hard floors and routine upkeep. Its average rating calls for some caution. It only makes sense if it costs clearly less than the L40s Ultra.

Dreame L40s Ultra CE : complete overview
The entry point to the L40s series The Dreame L40s Ultra CE is the least powerful member of the L40s family on suction: 13,000 Pa with Vormax technology, against 19,000 Pa for the L40s Ultra. Quoted runtime is 160 minutes. That level is fine for hard floors and regular upkeep, but it shows its limits on thick rugs or where pet hair builds up.
Rugs handled with care Its standout feature is ultrasonic carpet detection: the robot recognises the surface and lifts its mops so they don't soak the rug. The TriCut brush is designed to cut through hair that wraps around it, a real help in homes with long hair. Smart Pathfinder navigation produces maps you can edit, for example to split rooms or set no-go zones.
A dock that takes over the chores The PowerDock refills the robot's water tank, washes the mops and empties the dustbin. It is bulky, though, with a quoted height of 69.3 cm. Its average of 3.9/5 across nearly 250 ratings is a little below par, so check that its price makes sense against the more powerful L40s Ultra.
